30-year-old suspect arrested after 4-hour standoff at Mooresville home

The incident happened Sunday evening at a home in the 100 block of Lake Hart, near Bunker Hill Road West.

MOORESVILLE, Ind. — A 30-year-old man with multiple active warrants is in custody after a four-hour standoff at a Mooresville home Sunday evening.

Morgan County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a trespassing complaint in the 100 block of Lake Hart, near Bunker Hill Road West, around 6 p.m. on Dec. 24.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, a neighbor reported seeing 30-year-old Korey Hicks, of Mooresville, in the home while his parents were out of town. A judge previously ordered Hicks from being at the home.

According to online court records, Hicks had warrants out for his arrest for domestic battery, disorderly conduct and invasion of privacy.

Deputies arrived and confirmed Hicks was the person in the home.

When deputies went in the home to arrest Hicks on the outstanding warrants, he allegedly threatened to shoot the deputies with a rifle.

Deputies then got out of the home and set up a perimeter. People who lived nearby were asked to leave the area out of precaution.

The Morgan County and Johnson County SWAT teams arrived to assist.

Officers then tried to make contact with Hicks by cellphone, social media, a public address system and a phone that police put in the home, but he did not respond to any of the messages.

Just before 10 p.m., officers put tear gas in the home, and Hicks surrendered without incident.

He was taken to St. Francis Hospital to be evaluated before deputies took him to the Morgan County Jail.

The Morgan County Prosecutor's Office determined Hicks could be facing additional charges in connection to Sunday evening's standoff.
