Suspect shot after attempting to run over Fort Wayne police officer

The FWPD says the officer was not injured in the incident and has not yet released the condition of the suspect.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Fort Wayne Police are investigating an incident Sunday morning in which an officer shot a suspect that was trying to run him over with a car.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, shortly before noon on Sunday, Nov. 19, officers were dispatched to the area of Winchester Road and Babcock Lane, near Foster Park Golf Courts on Fort Wayne's south side, on a report of a fight.

Police said several people in the area were fighting with one another and that a gold-colored car was reportedly "banging into a house". The 911 caller indicated someone was trying to run someone over with a vehicle.

When officers arrived at the scene, they say the person driving the gold-colored car allegedly tried to run one of the officers over.

As a result, the officer fired a shot at the driver of the vehicle. Police say the officer was not injured in the incident and have not released the condition of the suspect.
