INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD on Friday announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a deadly August shooting on Indianapolis' northeast side.
The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 in the 3400 block of North Leland Avenue, near East 34th Street and Emerson Avenue. Responding officers found a truck parked in the street with bullet holes in the driver's side and the driver's side window shot out.
An unresponsive man, later identified as 57-year-old Michael Alvin Edwards, was found in the truck. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.
Around 5:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, detectives located the 32-year-old suspect in the case in the 3800 block of North Leland Avenue. He was arrested on a preliminary murder charge and taken to IMPD's homicide office, the department said Friday.

Police did not say how the man was identified as a suspect.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make final charging decisions in the case.
