INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police detectives are looking for suspects in a shooting that happened Sunday on Interstate 465.
Police responded to the scene near the Shadeland Avenue and 56th Street interchange, where the 32-year-old man had been severely injured.
According to ISP, early reports say that debris had flown through the driver's windshield and hit him. Callers said the driver was unconscious.
After first responders got to the scene, they found the driver had been shot. Detectives believe multiple shots were fired at the victim's pickup truck.
The victim, a woman and a 3-year-old child were in the car at the time. Neither the woman or the child were injured in the shooting.
Medics took the driver to the hospital in critical condition.
Detectives are still investigating and trying to figure out exactly what led up to the shooting.
They are asking anyone who was near the scene at 2:45 p.m. Sunday who might have seen the victim's truck to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS.
