JOHNSON COUNTY, Indiana — An investigation is underway after a crash involving a motorcyclist who was alleged to have fled from Whiteland Police on Monday.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash, which happened at 6:40 p.m.
In a press release, Sheriff Duane Burgess said a Whiteland officer tried to stop the motorcycle going east on Whiteland Road around Bob Glidden Boulevard. The release said the motorcyclist began to "weave in and out of traffic fleeing from law enforcement."
When the pursuit approached Interstate 65, a vehicle pulled onto the shoulder of the road to yield to the approaching police officer. The motorcycle then struck that vehicle, police said.
The driver of the motorcycle was critically injured and was taken to an Indianapolis hospital.
No one else was injured.
