WESTFIELD, Ind. — A man from Sheridan is facing voyeurism charges as he's accused of trying to record a woman in a Westfield bathroom — and it's not the first time he's been accused of that crime.

Police said they got a call from the Springhill Suites in Westfield in June about a man trying to record a woman going to the bathroom.

Officers were able to pull images of the suspect from the hotel's security cameras and asked the public for help identifying him.

Then, police got a tip that it was 43-year-old James Verhines.

Police said Verhines later admitted to going to the hotel in search of "a little action."

Investigators also discovered he was convicted two previous times for voyeurism cases in two different counties.

The first happened in Marion County in 2000, and he was sentenced to probation in that case.

Then, Verhines was arrested again on voyeurism charges in Johnson County in 2023. In March, he was sentenced to probation again.

Now, he faces charges in Hamilton County for the accusations from June.
