1 injured in I-465 shooting on Indy's northwest side

Police said the shooting happened around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday on I-465 near Michigan Road.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police troopers are investigating after a man was shot on Interstate 465 on the northwest side of Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon.

Detectives preliminarily believe the victim was driving eastbound on I-465, near Michigan Road, around 1:20 p.m. Sept. 3 when someone in another vehicle fired shots toward his car, hitting the driver. The suspect then fled from the scene.

The man who was shot drove himself to the Meridian Street exit, pulled over in the Arby's parking lot near 96th and Meridian streets and called 911.

Medics arrived and transported him to a hospital, where his condition was described as "stable" with non-life-threatening injuries.

Indiana State Police detectives are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact 317-899-8577. Contact detectives if you were driving in the area of I-465 and Michigan Road between 1:10-1:20 p.m. and your vehicle has cameras.
