LAWRENCE, Indiana — Police in Lawrence are investigating after a woman was found dead late Wednesday evening.
According to a police department spokesperson, officers were called around 11 p.m. Nov. 22 to a report of a shooting in the 4600 block of Normal Avenue, near 47th Street and Franklin Road. When police arrived, they found a 27-year-old woman in front of a home who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Makayla Lockhart.
Police are investigating whether an altercation in the driveway preceded the shooting.
The spokesperson didn't say if police had identified a suspect in the case, nor whether a motive had been determined.
