HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — Police in Hamilton County are searching for a suspect after a police pursuit ended in a crash that briefly shut down the southbound lanes of Interstate 69 on Sunday.

According to a release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, around 7:09 p.m. on Nov. 17, an officer from the Noblesville Police Department attempted to stop a 2018 Dodge Challenger after seeing the driver commit a traffic violation.

When the officer activated their emergency lights and siren, the suspect vehicle did not stop. The driver led police on a chase down southbound State Road 37 before merging onto southbound I-69. Shortly after merging onto the interstate, the driver of the Challenger crashed into another vehicle near the 106th Street exit. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital for a checkout.

Police say the suspect got out of their vehicle and fled the scene following the crash. An exhaustive search for the suspect by NPD officers, Fishers police officers and Hamilton County Sheriff's deputies came up empty, according to police.

The HCSO says the investigation is ongoing and the department is working on leads to identify the suspect.
