INDIANAPOLIS — A 17-year-old student was arrested after being found with a gun at Crispus Attucks High School on Indianapolis' near northwest side Thursday afternoon, according a public police report obtained by 13News.
The report, which lists an incident time of around 1 p.m. and a reported time of 3 p.m. Feb. 1, indicates the boy faces preliminary charges of unlawfully carrying a handgun, possession of a firearm on school property and dangerous possession of a firearm by a minor.
A semiautomatic pistol, more than two dozen bullets, vape cartridges and drugs were recovered by police, according to the report.
An Indianapolis Public Schools spokesperson shared the following statement with 13News:
Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is aware that Crispus Attucks High School was on a brief lockdown today (Feb. 1) because of an arrest of a student by IPS Police. The student had a weapon. The arrest was without incident, and no one was injured.
The safety of our students and staff is always our priority at IPS.
