INDIANAPOLIS — Two men have been arrested after an alleged road rage shooting on the east side of Indianapolis last week.
According to Indiana State Police, two troopers were in a parking lot near East 21st Street and North Shadeland Avenue around 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 when they heard gunfire coming from across the street. The troopers then responded to the parking lot of a restaurant on Shadeland Avenue, just south of 21st Street, where they found a man who had apparently been shot.
As one trooper provided aid to the victim, the other reportedly searched the area for a vehicle which had fled the scene. The trooper located the vehicle, a black Ford Escape, moments later, about a half-mile from the shooting scene.
Two people inside the Escape were taken into custody and state police say a handgun was found on the ground outside the vehicle.
The victim of the shooting was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 59-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, both from Indianapolis, were arrested on preliminary charges of attempted murder.
(NOTE: 13News does not report the names of suspects until they have been formally charged by prosecutors.)
The shooting remains under investigation.
