The injuries to the victims are not believed to be life-threatening, a police spokesperson said.

INDIANAPOLIS — Two teenage boys are recovering from gunshot wounds after an incident in Anderson, police said Wednesday.

The shooting happened just before 3:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Columbus Avenue, just north of East 23rd Street.

Officers found the boys, ages 14 and 15, with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Both were stable when transported to an Anderson hospital.

According to a police department spokesperson, preliminary information indicates a man shot at the boys as they were walking south on Columbus Avenue.

During their investigation, officers received information that the alleged suspect was possibly in the 1800 block of East 32nd Street, around one mile southeast of where the teens were shot.

Officers took 29-year-old Erik Scott-Orville Spencer, of Anderson, into custody without incident, police said. He was then transported to the Madison County Jail.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
