INDIANAPOLIS — Police said a crash turned into a robbery at 86th Street and Guion Road on the northwest side of Indianapolis on Jan. 3.
Court documents show Anthony Sharp was driving a car with its headlights turned off around 6:15 p.m. He allegedly crashed into the victim's car turning in onto Guion Road from 86th Street and pulled into a nearby animal hospital's parking lot. Court documents show Sharp approached the victim's car and demanded cash from her to pay for the damages.
Sharp then allegedly punched in two of her car windows, showering the victim with broken glass and cutting her hands. He's then accused of taking her phone from her hands and keys from her ignition.
Court documents show a female accomplice, who was in the car with Sharp, took the victim's wallet, cash, ID, and three credit cards from her car.
Police said within 10 minutes of the robbery, Sharp successfully purchased gas and lottery tickets with the victim's credit cards at a nearby gas station. Court documents show Sharp attempted to use the cards ten times at five different locations within a half-hour. Only three payments went through, totaling $232.76.
Court documents show investigators believe Sharp is involved in a number of similar robberies involving stolen credit cards from parked cars.
In each of those three incidents dating back to November, police said the suspect smashed car windows and stole credit cards that were used shortly after the theft.
Court records show police compared video footage of the suspect and suspect's vehicle to the robbery Sharp is accused of committing at 86th Street and Guion Road. The vehicle is described as a silver 2008-2010 Dodge Avenger with a dent in the passenger-side rear door.
A warrant for Sharp's arrest was filed Tuesday. He's charged with 12 misdemeanors and one felony charge of robbery resulting in injury.
Sharp is only charged with the robbery early this month on the northwest side.
