Police arrest West Lafayette stabbing suspect

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — West Lafayette police arrested a stabbing suspect.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing around 9:35 p.m. on Oct. 28 near a campsite in the woods behind the West Lafayette Wastewater Treatment facility.

Police said the victim had already been transported to IU Health Arnett Hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as a 21-year-old unhoused man.

On Nov. 6, Tippecanoe County sheriff's deputies located and detained the suspect, who was transported to the West Lafayette Police Department and arrested.

(NOTE: 13News does not name suspects until formal charges have been filed by prosecutors.)

The suspect is facing a preliminary charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
