INDIANAPOLIS — Police say they've arrested an Indianapolis man as a last resort after numerous instances of him threatening community members and local businesses.
According to newly-filed court documents, 40-year-old Anthony Glenn, who is experiencing homelessness, is known to the Warren Park area on the city's east side as the "Machete Man" due to his history of carrying a machete and using it to threaten local business owners and community members.
Court documents say that around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, IMPD officers responded to a report of a trespasser in the parking lot of All Star Bowl at 726 N. Shortridge Road.
One of the responding officers was reportedly familiar with Glenn and was aware of a previous incident at the All Star Bowl bowling alley in September 2023 that resulted in the bowling alley filing a stay away order against Glenn.
The arresting officer reportedly had attempted to help Glenn on numerous cases, including attempts to find him resources meant to help people who are homeless. According to court documents, Glenn appears to understand the help officers are attempting to give him, but has refused to accept help or adhere to any warnings given to him by police.
Glenn had two active warrants in Marion County at the time of his arrest.
Multiple examples of Glenn terrorizing the community with his machete were described in court documents.
In court documents, Glenn is described as a "absolute menace for the community" in the area of 10th Street and Shortridge Road.
A lieutenant with the Shirley Police Department said that Glenn allegedly stalks them at the Kroger store located on East 10th Street.
The owner of a carwash on Shortridge Road told police Glenn is driving away business, leaving his trash on the property and using the bays of the carwash as a toilet. Glenn allegedly trespassed at the carwash in June 2023. Glenn was issued a stay away order, but trespassed again in November 2023 and was arrested.
Additionally, the owner of the carwash told police Glenn has threatened his life on numerous occasions when asked to clean up his mess. Court documents also say that Glenn carries the same mess with him into two separate apartment complexes where he is known to threaten the lives of residents, staff and anyone who attempts to clean up his messes.
Glenn's initial court hearing is scheduled for April 24 at 9 a.m.
