INDIANAPOLIS — One person was taken into custody after leading police on a chase in an alleged carjacked vehicle on the southeast side of Marion County early Monday.
Police told 13News the incident began around 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, after a carjacking in Lawrence near East 52nd Street and North Mitthoefer Road. Around four hours later, officers responded to the 4400 block of South Emerson Avenue, near Interstate 465 in Beech Grove, after a Flock camera detected the stolen vehicle.
Officers located the car at a gas station, and the driver led them on a short pursuit before two people ran from the car at a dead end in the 5600 block of Victory Drive, just east of the original location.
One of the suspects was taken into custody by officers with IMPD and the Beech Grove Police Department, with assistance from drones and a K-9 officer.
Police said the second suspect has not been located.
The eastbound lanes of I-465 near Emerson Avenue were blocked for a short period during the investigation.
A rifle was located inside the car, police told 13News.
