AVON, Ind. — One person was taken into custody after a reported disturbance at a warehouse in Avon early Thursday, police said.
The incident happened at Harlan Bakeries in the 7500 block of East US Highway 36, in a commercial area east of South Avon Avenue.
Around 3 a.m. Nov. 2, officers from the Avon Police Department and several surrounding departments responded to several calls of a possible armed person at the facility, with possible shots fired, Avon Police Department Deputy Chief Brian Nugent told 13News.
At the scene, officers located a male matching the description provided to police, who was taken into custody without incident.
Police then entered Harlan Bakeries and cleared the facility twice. No injuries were reported.
Police confirmed the male reported as a possible suspect was the person taken into custody.
A preliminary investigation has not indicated that any shots were fired during the incident, Nugent said, and police do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
Police believe a conflict between two employees may have led up to the incident, during which one employee "indicated his intent to retrieve a firearm and potentially shoot (the other person) and possibly other people inside the facility," Nugent said.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
