INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has made an arrest in a deadly shooting on the city's northwest side in late October.
The shooting happened Oct. 21 around 1:30 a.m. in the 5500 block of Georgetown Road, just south of West 56th Street.
Few details were immediately available, but an IMPD spokesperson said officers investigating a report of a shooting found a person with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, but later died from their injuries.
The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 29-year-old Abel Ramos-Utuy.
IMPD detectives identified and interviewed the person believed to be responsible for this incident. That person was released after consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office pending further investigation, according to IMPD.
On Nov. 3, IMPD announced the arrest of 28-year-old Ja'que Mason for murder in the case. It is not clear if Mason is the same person who was interviewed by police.
Mason had his initial court hearing Nov. 6.
