Pike Twp. woman charged with battery, criminal trespass for confrontation with neighbors

A woman caught on surveillance video attacking her neighbors with a yard sign is now formally charged.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The woman arrested after a confrontation caught on camera in Pike Township has been formally charged with battery and criminal trespass.

Vicki New was in court on Wednesday for her initial hearing.

Widely-shared video shows the woman tearing up "no trespass" signs last month and throwing them at her neighbors.

Prosecutors say New was upset over how loud the neighbors were playing music in their own driveway.

She also allegedly admitted to removing and damaging those signs that she believed were on her property.

According to court documents, New says those neighbors and police had warned her before about trespassing.

Some people living in New's Pike Township neighborhood say she has been threatening and confronting others for years.

New had told Eyewitness News that her neighbors point lights and cameras into her home and spit on her front porch.

New said she and her husband are selling their home and intend to move out of the area.
