INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a man was killed in a shooting on the near northwest side of Indianapolis Tuesday morning.
Around 3:30 a.m. Aug. 20, officers responded to a report of the person shot in the 600 block of Udell Street, just a few blocks south of Crown Hill Cemetery.
When police arrived on scene, they found a man who had been shot. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as 19-year-old Jaleal Daeshawn Hurt.
"Indianapolis is waking up to violence again, and it's heartbreaking," IMPD Ofc. Drew Brown said.
Detectives don't believe there is an ongoing threat to the surrounding community in connection with the incident.
