24-year-old man found shot, killed inside of car on Indy's near southeast side

IMPD officers responded to a report of the shooting around 5 a.m. Monday near East Minnesota Street and South Keystone Avenue.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD confirmed a man was killed in a shooting Monday morning on Indianapolis' near southeast side.

Around 5 a.m. July 1, IMPD officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 2600 block of East Minnesota Street, near South Keystone Avenue.

When police arrived in the residential area, they found a man inside of a car who had been shot, and later pronounced him dead on the scene.

On Tuesday, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the man as 24-year-old Kevin Deward McGaw Jr.

One neighbor spoke with 13News who was woken up by the shooting and says they knew the person who was killed. The car police found the man in had its windows shattered and even more damage on the doors.

Police have not released any additional information on the circumstances of the incident.
