Coroner identifies 41-year-old man shot, killed on front porch of east Indianapolis home

The shooting was reported around 9:15 a.m. Monday, near East New York Street and North Sherman Drive.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after they believe a man was killed in a shooting on the porch of an east Indianapolis home Monday morning.

The shooting was reported around 9:15 a.m. July 22 in the 3800 block of East New York Street, just east of North Sherman Drive.

An IMPD spokesperson said responding officers found the victim, later identified as 41-year-old Aaron Jackson, who was shot and taken to a local hospital in serious condition. IMPD confirmed that Jackson later died at the hospital.

"Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident," an IMPD spokesperson said in a statement.
