25-year-old woman killed, 44-year-old man injured in shooting on Indy's northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a 25-year-old woman was killed in a shooting on the city's northeast side Saturday morning.

According to IMPD, around 3:30 a.m. July 13, officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 4100 block of Edgemere Court, near 42nd Street and Millersville Road.

Police found a woman dead when they arrived on scene. The Marion County Coroner's Office later identified the victim as 25-year-old Nakyra La Shawn McGee.

Around the same time, IMPD East District officers responded to Community Hospital East on a report of a walk-in person shot. 

When officers arrived, they learned a 44-year-old man was being treated for a gunshot wound. His condition was described as "stable."

IMPD said officers learned both incidents were connected, and police are hoping more people will come forward with additional information or surveillance video.
