INDIANAPOLIS — A man in his 50s has died following a shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis Thursday evening.
The shooting happened shortly after 8 p.m. Aug. 29 in the 3400 block of North Leland Avenue, near East 34th Street and Emerson Avenue. When officers responded to the scene, they found a green truck parked in the street with bullet holes on the driver's side. The driver's side window was also shot out, according to police.
Officers found an unresponsive man inside the truck. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.
The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the 57-year-old man as Michael Alvin Edwards.
Witnesses told police that the house near where the man was shot is a "troubled" house that is known to be for squatters.
There is no information about a possible suspect or motive at this time.
