KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. — An Ohio man wanted for murder was arrested after a traffic stop in eastern Indiana Saturday morning.
According to a release from Indiana State Police, around 7 a.m. on April 13, an ISP trooper was on patrol on Interstate 70, near the Knightstown exit, checking the speed of traffic.
The release states that the trooper noticed a white Chrysler going well above the posted speed limit and then initiated a traffic stop.
When the trooper conducted routine traffic stop procedures, he discovered the driver, identified as 18-year-old Robert Shields III of Toledo, Ohio, had an active warrant for his arrest from the Toledo Police Department.
According to the Toledo PD, Shields allegedly shot a victim in the head following an altercation. Shields was arrested by ISP and preliminarily charged with two misdemeanors, possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle without a license.
Shields was transported to the Henry County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition back to Ohio.
