NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — A Noblesville neighborhood is rallying around a family that fell victim to porch pirates this week — which the family was able to catch on video. They said boxes of Christmas gifts from out of state were taken from their front steps Tuesday afternoon.
Melissa and Sam Ralph said the presents came from family in Georgia and arrived a day earlier than expected.
"It was not items that we had ordered online. It wasn't things we could just contact the sender about," Melissa said. "It was literally all of our Christmas gifts from all of our family down there that were wrapped and sentimental with notes, and there were homemade jellies that my mother-in-law had made. Things that can't be replaced."
Sam Ralph works as a police officer and normally has his squad car parked in the driveway, but was away when the thieves struck.
"We aren't the first ones this has happened to, and we won't be the last. We're just going to try and have the best holiday we can," Sam said.
"I felt violated, I felt really disheartened that somebody could not only take something that doesn't belong to them, but to literally take away someone's Christmas," Melissa said. "These aren't items off of Amazon. These were very thoughtful things."
