Noblesville bus aide charged with battery of 10-year-old girl with brain damage

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) — On Monday, a woman who had been working as a Noblesville school bus aide, is expected to plead guilty to striking a 10-year-old girl who has brain damage.

In video from inside the school bus, you can see Francella Van Fossen slap the girl across the face.

In court documents, Van Fossen told investigators she "touched" the girl's face after the 10-year-old bit her.

Van Fossen had been transporting the girl for three years when this incident happened in May.

Note: This video has been edited to remove instances where you can hear the girl's name being said.

Right now Van Fossen is facing a charge of battery.

Noblesville schools released the following statement regarding the incident:

Student safety is our top priority and we have zero tolerance for behavior that puts our students at risk in any way. We immediately addressed this issue in collaboration with Noblesville Police upon learning of this situation back in May. The bus aide in question is no longer employed with Noblesville Schools.
