Indianapolis man charged after crashing into apartment complex building

A spokesperson with the Indianapolis Fire Department said the driver intentionally crashed his car into the building Monday afternoon.

INDIANAPOLIS — An apartment building on the near northwest side of Indianapolis is boarded up after a driver allegedly crashed into it on purpose Monday afternoon.

The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to the crash in the 3400 block of Sherburne Circle, near 38th Street and West Kessler Boulevard North Drive, around 5 p.m. Oct. 23.

An IFD spokesperson said the driver, later identified as 47-year-old Bryant Ferguson, of Indianapolis, intentionally crashed into the building, and nobody was injured in the incident. IMPD officers arrested Ferguson at the scene, according to a police report.

According to court documents, police said Ferguson smelled of alcohol, his speech was slow and slurred, his eyes were glassy and his eyelids were drooping.

Court documents say Ferguson told police he was trying to get cigarettes out of his car when the keys were in the ignition and he then lost control of the car before it crashed. Ferguson said he was at the apartment to pick up his children prior to the crash.
