MUNCIE, Ind. — A 28-year-old Muncie woman faces three felony charges after allegedly smuggling meth into jail after she was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

According to recently released court documents, around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, a Muncie police officer was investigating a reported burglary to a shed near West 14th Street and South Rochester Avenue.

The officer reportedly saw two bicycles parked outside a white shed next to a house between West 14th Street and West 13th Street. The officer announced himself and heard a woman's voice coming from inside the shed.

Court documents say the 28-year-old woman was the only one inside the shed and that walked out of the shed and identified herself to police. When police ran the woman's identification, they discovered she had an active warrant and arrested her. The woman's arrest record shows the warrant was issued July 29 for possession of methamphetamine.

The officer then searched the woman and reportedly did not find anything in her pockets. Court documents say the officer asked the woman if she had anything else on her person and informed her additional charged would be added if she was lying. The woman allegedly told the officer she did not have anything else on her person.

After being transported to the Delaware County Jail, a jail staff member allegedly found a folded piece of paper that contained a crystal rock substance, believed to be methamphetamine, inside the woman's front pocket.

In addition to being arrested for an outstanding warrant, the 28-year-old also faces an additional possession of methamphetamine charge as well as a felony charge of trafficking with an inmate.
