MUNCIE, Ind. — A 22-year-old Muncie man was arrested Wednesday after he was pulled over for a traffic stop on his bicycle, found to have an active warrant and arrested for drug possession.

According to recently released court documents, in the evening hours of July 31, a Muncie police officer was patrolling near East 29th Street and South Macedonia Avenue when they saw a man riding a bicycle in a poorly lit area without functioning front or rear lights.

The officer then initiated a traffic stop on the man. After explaining the reason for the stop, the officer ran the man's identification and discovered he had an active warrant out for his arrest. After confirming the warrant, the officer placed the man in handcuffs.

As police were searching the man, they allegedly found an orange prescription drug bottle in his left front pocket. Court documents say a gray substance, believed to be heroin, was found inside a plastic bag that was wrapped in aluminum foil and placed into the prescription bottle. Another clear plastic bag was found inside the bottle and was found to contain methamphetamine.

According to court documents, the man's bicycle was impounded and the man was arrested for possession of narcotics in addition to his previous arrest warrant.
