MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie firefighter was arrested Monday on preliminary charges of domestic battery and strangulation, the Muncie Fire Department announced Friday.
"The charges brought against (the firefighter) are unrelated to his duties with the Muncie Fire Department, and the circumstances leading up to these charges occurred off duty," the department said in a statement.
(NOTE: 13News does not name suspects in cases until formal charges are filed by prosecutors.)
The firefighter was placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the criminal investigation, the department said.
