INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after two minors were shot at a park on Indianapolis' southeast side Saturday evening.
IMPD officers responded around 6:30 p.m. to the 2900 block of East Tabor Street, near East Raymond Street and South Keystone Avenue, for a report of a person shot.
Officers arrived and found two male victims, ages 12 and 13, near a shelter at Red Maple Park, police said.
The victims were taken to a local hospital, one in critical condition and one whose condition was described by police as stable.
A police spokesperson said the suspects are believed to have run away from the scene on foot after the shooting.
A graduation party was taking place at a nearby clubhouse at the time, but the party organizer told police they did not recognize the victims, a police spokesperson said.
A 13News crew found that homes in the area and at least one car appear to have been struck by gunfire.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call IMPD detectives at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
(EDITOR'S NOTE: This story was updated to remove references to this being a gang-related incident. After police initially told 13News that it was gang-related, an IMPD spokesperson said late Saturday that the circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.)
