Lebanon police say a person was arrested Thursday after fleeing from officers and striking multiple cars.

The incident began just before 3 p.m. when police learned that a car that had been reported stolen was being tracked by its owner. Police caught up with a car matching the description as it was leaving an apartment complex on North Lebanon Steet.

Officers tried to do a traffic stop but the vehicle fled, according to a police department spokesperson. A pursuit ensued. Officers say the suspect sideswiped a car as the chase began.

When the suspect got to a dead end on Windhaven Lane, he did a U-turn and drove directly at a police squad car, striking it. Continuing to flee, the suspect then ran into another police vehicle and another civilian car.

Officers were eventually able to end the pursuit when they boxed-in the suspect on State Road 32 at Interstate 65. Police had to force entry into the car when the suspect disregarded officers commands to exit the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. He faces multiple preliminary charges.
