25-year-old motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run crash on Indy's southeast side; suspect arrested

The crash happened shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday, March 24 near East Raymond Street and South Sherman Drive.

INDIANAPOLIS — A 25-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Indianapolis' southeast side Sunday evening.

The crash happened shortly before 8 p.m. March 24 near the intersection of East Raymond Street and South Sherman Drive, according to IMPD.

A man who had been riding the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. On March 25, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified him as 25-year-old Jordan Thomas Farrell.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated a pickup truck and motorcycle were both going westbound on Raymond Street when the truck hit the motorcycle, which then struck a third vehicle.

The pickup truck allegedly left the scene, while the driver of the third vehicle stayed at the scene.

Officers found a "possible suspect vehicle and driver" at another location and took the driver into custody, IMPD said.

Monday morning, police confirmed the arrest of a 54-year-old man for his alleged role in the incident. He was arrested on a preliminary charge of leaving the scene of an accident causing death.

(NOTE: 13News does not name suspects until charges have been filed by prosecutors.)

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make the final charging decision.
