CONNERSVILLE, Ind. — A woman in Connersville was arrested for child neglect after her 4-month-old child was found with severe burns, fractured ribs and a skull fracture.

Connersville Police Department officers responded to the Reid Health hospital for a report of potential child abuse Sunday, Jan. 7. After seeing the child's significant injuries, detectives opened an investigation.

Officers discovered that the mother, 26-year-old Allison K. Nunier, of Connersville, had left her home Sunday evening after some of the injuries took place and had not returned home.

Nunier was taken into custody shortly after an interview with CPD and taken to Fayette County Jail. Prosecutors charged her with aggravated battery and neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.

The child is now in an Indianapolis hospital receiving further medical treatment, according to CPD.
