JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. — Multiple law enforcement agencies in Johnson County executed 58 arrest warrants and several search warrants during a massive drug bust Wednesday morning.
According to a release from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, on Aug. 21, officers with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Franklin Police Department, Bargersville Police Department, Greenwood Police Department, Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Marion County Sheriff's Office and Bargersville and White River Fire Department SWAT teams conducted a series of narcotics warrants across the county and neighboring areas.
The investigation had been ongoing for several months. According to the release, at least 25 people were arrested out of the 50 suspects listed by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.
"It is disheartening to see good, hardworking citizens forced to endure criminal activities in their communities. It is our duty as law enforcement to restore peace and ensure the safety of these areas. The individuals arrested today have chosen a path of unlawful behavior," Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess said.
Police said residents near the areas of the drug busts are pleased with the arrests and hope that they lead to a restoration of peace in the nearby neighborhoods.
