MARION, Ind. — A juvenile has been arrested after police say they allegedly shot at another juvenile.
According to a press release from the Marion Police Department, on Jan. 25 officers were called to the area of Western Avenue and Nelson Street in Marion on a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and found a male juvenile at 1st and "F" Streets that told police someone in a maroon car was shooting at him.
Police say the juvenile was uninjured.
Officers found cartridge casings at the intersection Western and Nelson. They also located two vehicles nearby that had been struck by gunfire.
Later, a Grant County Sheriff's deputy saw a vehicle matching the description given to police by the juvenile near 4th and "D" Streets. The officer allegedly chased a suspect that had exited the vehicle after they refused to comply with verbal commands.
During the chase, the officer, identified as Ofc. Max Fisher, deployed his taser on the suspect. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital as part of standard taser procedure. Police said the suspect was carrying a 9mm Glock handgun.
Police say the suspect in the case was also a juvenile and they are currently at a juvenile detention facility in Muncie. A search warrant was granted leading police to discover another handgun inside the suspect vehicle.
No one was injured in the shooting.
