INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The Marion County Prosecutor says Maurice Nelson has been sentenced to 34 years in prison.

He abducted, chained up and assaulted a woman in the basement of his home over the course of four days in 2016.

The woman was rescued after a neighbor heard her screams coming from inside the house and called police.

When officers rescued the 22-year-old victim, she described her attacker right down to the name "PRINCE" tattooed on his chest.

IMPD believes Maurice Nelson kept a woman chained for four days in the basement of this home.

Court documents tell the chilling tale of the victim from Anderson, Indiana, who met Nelson while surfing a dating site.

During their dinner date at his home, she says Nelson pepper-sprayed her, beat her with a police baton, handcuffed her and chained her by the neck to a pole in his basement for four days. One of his basement windows is covered with cardboard so no one can see inside. Court documents say Nelson threatened her repeatedly and told her the basement was soundproof.

Police also found receipts for items like duct tape in the house.
