INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man was sentenced to 63 years in prison for the July 2021 deadly stabbing of a woman in Castleton.
Jhabriel Munoz was convicted of murder in the death of Tiffany Gough, as well as torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal, after a three-day jury trial in October.
IMPD officers had been called to the Lake Castleton Apartments at 75th Street and Shadeland Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. on July 10, 2021, on a report of a person stabbed.
When officers arrived, they approached the back of the apartment and saw blood on the patio blinds and interior walls. The patio door was also open.
Officers looked into the apartment and saw Munoz inside. He was standing at the front door looking through the peephole, where other officers were attempting to make contact.
IMPD said officers entered the apartment by going through the open patio door and saw Munoz was holding a knife. They announced themselves and ordered Munoz to drop the knife. When he dropped it, officers told Munoz to get on the ground and then arrested him.
Inside the apartment, officers found Gough, 53, stabbed to death.
Witnesses told police they had seen Munoz sitting on a bench near the apartment shortly before the stabbing.
