LAWRENCE, Ind — Three people have now been sentenced for their roles in a deadly shooting at a Lawrence gas station in September 2021.
A judge sentenced Lei Gamble to 48 years. Lei was convicted on murder, attempted robbery and other charges in the killing of Israel Eduardo Raymundo Cruz.
His sentence includes 45 years in prison, followed by two years of home detention and one year of probation.
On Sept. 1, 2021, police were called to the 4200 block of North Post Road, near East 42nd Street on a report of a person shot.
Police got to the scene and found Cruz in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.
Surveillance video showed Lei and Isaiah Davie-Franks approach Cruz's car and then the three struggling. The video then showed both suspects shoot Cruz.

During a police interview, Lei admitted planning the robbery and being driven to the gas station by his sister, Taleiah Gamble.
In October 2022, Davie-Franks pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison for his role in this crime.
Taleiah was sentenced pleaded guilty to robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. The judge sentenced her to 30 years, which includes 20 years in the Department of Correction, three years on Marion County Community Corrections, seven years suspended and two years of probation.
