PITTSBORO, Ind. — A man is recovering after being shot near a liquor store in Hendricks County Friday night.
According to a release from the Pittsboro Police Department, around 9:20 p.m. July 12, officers responded to the Cork and Cap Package Liquors located at 24 E. Main St. in Pittsboro on a report of a person shot.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach. Medics immediately began providing the man with medical care. The man was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where his condition was reported to be "stable."
Police said the person believed to be the shooter was still on the scene and was located and detained shortly after police arrived.
According to a preliminary investigation, police believe the incident began with a verbal argument between the shooter and the victim. The argument reportedly escalated quickly and ended with the shooter pulling their weapon and opening fire on the victim. Police said the suspect cooperated with police.
