Man injured in early-morning shooting near canal in Broad Ripple

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a man was injured in a shooting in Broad Ripple early Thursday morning.

Around 1:30 a.m. Oct. 10, an IMPD officer working off duty in Broad Ripple heard a disturbance near a bar in the 6300 block of Guilford Avenue, near Sugar Bob Lane and just north of the canal. 

The officer then heard shots fired as they approached the scene and found a man with a gunshot wound who was "stable" when taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, a department spokesperson told 13News.

Aggravated assault detectives were speaking with a few cooperating witnesses, the spokesperson said, but were looking to talk to others who police believe witnessed the incident.
