PENDELTON, Ind. (WTHR) - An inmate from Florida was killed Friday in a stabbing at the Pendleton Correctional Facility.

State police investigators say 28-year-old Clifford Baggett of Ustas, Florida was stabbed multiple times by a fellow inmate around 3:30 p.m. Friday. Police say Baggett was walking through the prison's dining hall when he was approached by 44-year-old Tommy Holland of Indianapolis.

Holland then stabbed Baggett with a hand-crafted weapon. Prison staff tended to Baggett, who died before he could be taken to the hospital.

Staff rushed at Holland, who dropped his weapon and surrendered without further incident. He is currently serving two life sentences for murders he committed in 2003.

An autopsy will be performed on Baggett, who was serving a seven-year sentence for a 2015 conviction for aggravated battery, according to prison records.
