ANDERSON, Ind. — A man arrested after two people were killed during a police chase Sunday is facing nine charges.
Brandon Teague is accused of reckless homicide, resisting law enforcement and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
The Madison County Prosecutor’s Office has requested a $1 million cash bond for Teague.
According to the Anderson Police Department, shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, the Pendleton Police Department initiated a pursuit that eventually crossed over into Anderson city limits.
The police chase ended when Teague's truck crashed into two vehicles near 19th and Jackson streets in Anderson. Investigators believe Teague's truck was going around 100 mph.
Police said Teague's truck smashed into a Buick, killing the couple inside.
After being hit, that couple's car then hit a Jeep. Six people in the Jeep were taken to the hospital. According to police, four of the six occupants were seriously injured.
Teague suffered only minor injuries and was taken into custody.
According to court documents, Pendleton officers were alerted to a suspended driver. They said when they tried to stop Teague's truck, he took off. During the chase, police claim they became aware of a warrant out for Teague's arrest. 13News found court documents listing warrants for driving while suspended and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. A sergeant allegedly told investigators he did not cancel the chase after learning of the warrants for possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
The sergeant claims officers were calling out the chase speeds of more than 100 mph and that they were going through intersections, prior to the crash.
The officers chasing Teague told investigators they were alerted there was a warrant for Teague during the chase, but they did not know what the warrant was for, according to court documents.
The officers said they had started to pull back right before the crash. When they arrested Teague, they said he told them he ran because he had warrants and a gun in the truck.
