INDIANAPOLIS — A man is charged with two counts of murder in connection to deaths near a Connersville graveyard.
Joshua Lee Farmer is facing two charges of murder.
According to court documents, Thomas Combs was found dead at Dale Cemetery on Aug. 17, 2022. He was found in the roadway near the cemetery entrance. Police said he had been shot in the face and neck.
Investigators found bullet shell casings and a crushed beer can near Combs' body.
Then, on Sept. 10, 2022, police were called to a home across the street from the Connersville City Cemetery. Between two homes, police found Joshua Durham shot to death. Police were again able to collect bullet evidence.
On Oct. 3, Farmer was taken to the hospital, and a .41 magnum casing was found in his pocket. That is the same ammunition suspected in the two deadly shootings. A search of the home where he was staying with his grandfather found more ammunition.
In February 2024, DNA came back on the beer can from the first shooting. It matched the victim, Combs, and also Farmer. The lab also found the same gun was used in both Combs' murder and Durham's murder.
On Oct. 4, 2023, police interviewed Farmer at the Connersville Police Department. Farmer allegedly told them, "I didn't kill no one on purpose."
According to police, Farmer then said, "I don't want to get myself in more trouble than I am already in." Court documents claim he then went on to say, "There's four, Dale Cemetery, Liberty, and shot at two people by the graveyard." Police said he also admitted to owning a .41 caliber gun.
Police believe the Liberty refence was to a shooting in Union County that is under investigation.
The suspect is being held without bond.
