MARION, Ind. — Police in Marion, Indiana, arrested a man who allegedly hit and killed a cyclist earlier this month.
David N. Forbes, 76, of Marion, was crossing the bridge heading south in the 500 block of South Butler Avenue, near West 4th Street and South Baldwin Avenue on Jan. 8. Police said a vehicle, also traveling southbound, crossed the bridge, striking Forbes from behind and sending him off of his bicycle and onto the ground.
Police said the suspect vehicle fled, and Forbes was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Marion Police Department began investigating leads and examining evidence, which led them to 64-year-old Larry E. Couchman. He turned himself in and is being held at the Grant County Jail on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
Police are checking Couchman's red 1997 Chevy S-10 for evidence.
