INDIANAPOLIS — A man has been arrested and charged with murder in the deadly shooting of another man on Indianapolis' near north side in 2020.
Cortiz Norris, of Indianapolis, was formally charged with murder by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office on Oct. 17, 2023.
Around 9 a.m. Nov. 28, 2020, IMPD officers responding to a report of shots fired in the area of East 34th and North Meridian streets found Daniel Adam in the driver's seat of a Chevrolet sedan with at least one gunshot wound.
Adam was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he died three days later.
After a nearly three-year investigation, an arrest warrant was issued Oct. 17 for Norris, who was located at a home in the 300 block of North Temple Avenue, near East New York and North Rural streets. Norris was taken into custody "without incident" by IMPD detectives assisted by K-9 officers, police said.
A pretrial conference in the case is scheduled for Jan. 3, 2024, with a jury trial currently scheduled to begin Jan. 9, 2024.
