WASHINGTON (WTHR) — U.S. Marshals have added a man to their most wanted fugitive list after they say he raped his 14-year-old stepdaughter, then faked his suicide to avoid prosecution.
U.S. Marshals Service Director Donald Washington said they would "leave no stone unturned" until they bring 43-year-old Jacob Blair Scott to justice.
Scott is a white male who is 5 feeet 10 inches tall. He weighs approximately 225 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. He also has tattoos of a machete, a scorpion and a compass with feathers.
He is facing charges for sexual battery, touching a child for lustful purposes and exploitation of a child. He was out on bond when investigators found his abandoned boat off the coast of Orange Beach, Alabama with a gun and a suicide note in July 2018.
Despite the scene, investigators said there was little evidence of a suicide. They searched the Gulf of Mexico for a week, but his remains were never found. Investigators later discovered he had taken out $45,000 from a bank account before he disappeared.
Scott has a military veteran and has skills that may help him live off the grid. In 2011, he received a Purple Heart after sustaining injuries while serving in Iraq.
There have been reported possible sightings of Scott in Mississippi, Colorado, Nevada and Louisiana. U.s. Marshals are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to Scott's arrest.
Anyone who has information on Scott should call 1-877-WANTED-2 or report online at usmarshals.gov.
