INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Accused cop killer Jason Brown kept his head down during his deputy escort for a pretrial hearing.
The hearing centered around his “CT Scan” conducted by doctors at Eskenazi Hospital after the July 27, 2017 shooting death of Southport Police Officer Lt. Aaron Allan.
The shooting happened after the tattoo artist flipped his car with a passenger riding with him. Lt. Allan reportedly crawled into the car to rescue Brown who allegedly opened fire on him striking him 11 times killing the police officer.
Brown faces murder charges for the deadly shooting. He’s being held in the Indiana Department Of Corrections until trial time.
For Friday’s hearing several Marion County deputies escorted Brown to the City County Building for the hearing in the Court Room of Superior Court Judge Sheila Carlyle.
Judge Carlyle expressed concerns about keeping Brown’s CT Scan in the court’s custody. She allowed Browns defense attorney and the deputy prosecutor to agree on making a copy of the CT Scan following Friday mornings hearing. The Prosecutor’s office filed a motion wanting to make sure they obtained the same images (discs) that the court received from Eskenazi.
Right now Jason Brown is being represented by a single attorney. During the hearing Judge Carlyle inquired why no additional lawyers have joined to help defend Brown after a year’s time. He’s due back in court again later this year at 1:30 p.m. on October 5, 2018.
