Louisville hip hop artist ambushed, killed in Caesars Southern Indiana Casino parking lot

Police believe the shooting suspect took the victim's vehicle, a silver and black 2013 Dodge Charger.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville hip hop artist was followed after a show in Louisville Saturday night and ambushed outside Caesars Southern Indiana Hotel & Casino.

At about 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, 32-year-old LilDon Williams and several family members arrived at the Caesars casino in Elizabeth, Ind. A dark-colored passenger car followed them into the parking garage, then waited in the lot for three hours according to the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.

Three hours later, Williams and his family members exited the casino. While his family left the parking lot, Williams approached his vehicle when two people armed with rifles and wearing masks and gloves approached him, cornered him and shot him, Harrison County Sheriff Nick Smith said.

Williams died from multiple gunshot wounds. The Harrison County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating the homicide.

The victim's car was taken by one of the suspects. Authorities say the victim's vehicle is a 2013 silver and black Dodge Charger with a louver in the back window. Anyone who has seen the car or knows where it is, is asked to call 812-738-3911.

Smith said there was never a homicide at the casino before and that suspects targeted Williams.

"This was an isolated incident where an individual was targeted, hunted down and executed," Smith said.

The casino has provided law enforcement with security video to aid in the investigation.

"We offer our deepest condolences to this individual's loved ones during this tragedy," the casino said in a statement. "We will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities' ongoing investigation and urge anyone with information to to contact the Harrison County Sheriff's Office."

Some of Williams' family members were present during a news conference Monday about the murder.

"He made his music, made his clothes, and he took care of his daughter," Erica Williams said about her younger brother, LilDon. His daughter is 6 years old.

"We want to bring closure to the family," Smith said.

When asked about the victim, Williams' wife said during the conference, "He was a good man, a good dad. He was hardworking. He didn't deserve this. We have a 6-year-old daughter together who I now have to prepare her that she's not going to see him again."

Another family member said Williams "did not live that life at all" and pointed to how he worked full-time at one of the Ford plants in Louisville while pursuing his passion in music. He was about to release an album.

"He didn't deserve it," Williams' wife, Rannisha Williams, said. "His daughter didn't deserve this. He did not deserve to get gunned down like he did."
